Incident Report #013 "Pertaining to Kaminski" - 03/05/1986

Report by [MRU Andrew House]

Personnel Involved:

  1. MRU House

  2. Security Officer Tonia

  3. Engineer Mercer

  4. Marshal Kaminski

    BEGIN LOG

"Unauthorized Usage of SCP-294 and Foundation Resources"

Introduction
"During late, unspecified hours, a sudden proclamation was made through foundation radio by Engineer Mercer, insisting that he felt "frightened" and "ill" after a short-lived interaction with Marshal Kaminski. When rerouted to the Sec-Wing infirmary by Security Officer Tonia, the engineer was confronted after continuous seizures suddenly struck him. He was laid on his side, prescribed clonazepam & penicillin, and finally rooted to an IV drip."

"Upon diagnostic testing using bodily samples (such as phlegm, saliva, etc.), stuttering particles were discovered within mucus and the aforementioned substances. After sampling the uniform of Mercer, the same particles were examined on his wear. Such cells were determined to be radioactive residue. Afterwards, Mercer was thoroughly rinsed, given a replacement outfit, and was placed into quarantine for the time being. I ultimately diagnosed him with acute radiation syndrome (ARS)."

"After I had picked up as much information as I needed to continue the investigation, I contacted med-evac and had Mercer transferred to an external medical site for greater treatment (such as hematopoietic stem cell transplantations, blood transfusions, and secured quarantine)."

Incident Regarding Kaminski

"When questioned about the origin of the radioactive particles, Mercer claimed that he had "walked around R-Wing" before witnessing Kaminski transform into a zombie of unknown specimen. The engineer and marshal sprinted into opposite directions, and thus led to the report from Mercer."

"After employing Officer Tonia to investigate R-Wing (reported area of happenstance), he communicated multiple findings: multiple cups containing molten metal, one cup of violently frizzling red liquid, and various other unwarranted liquids (Ex. Human Growth Hormones). The evidence was carefully placed into containment cubes using proper precautionary gear, such as biohazard suits, individual bags, and chemical-resistant tongs."

"Our next step of action was viewing the rollbacks of R-Wing cameras. Officer Tonia reported the following, in chronological order:"

[Log Addendum #001-13 Attached]

  1. [ Kaminski grabs a hazmat suit, making his way to SCP-294. ]

  2. [ Removes a quarter from his pocket, slotting it into SCP-294. It appears that he typed "SCP-008" into the machine. ]

  3. [ A bright red liquid was dispensed, which violently converted into a gas, contaminating the room. ]

  4. [ Kaminski runs to the lab, covering the SCP-008 cup. ]

  5. [ He takes out a syringe, drawing from himself in order to check his blood beneath a microscope. ]

  6. [ This of course, breached his suit, exposing him to SCP-008. ]

  7. [ After some time in the lab, he removes what appears to be rotting flesh from a biohazard bag, leaving it onto a table nearby(?) before moving

    back to SCP-294. ]

  8. [ Mercer enters by this point, likely being contaminated by SCP-008. He slots another quarter into SCP-294, dispensing in order: ]

  • 8a. Cobalt-60 (RADIOACTIVE ISOTOPE)

  • 8b. Human Growth Hormone

  • 8c. Copper(II)

  • 8d. Palladium

  • 8e. Adaptogen

  • 8f. Tritium (RADIOACTIVE ISOTOPE)

  • [ before returning back to the lab. ]

  1. [ In the lab, he begins to mix all of the compounds together, following ████████████████ stored within his uniform. ]

  2. [ After he finished mixing, he puts the compound into a syringe, before reducing the liquid into a powder, placing it within a pill capsule. ]

  3. [ With the process completed, Kaminski begins to panic as the SCP-008 takes hold, eventually succumbing and becoming a zombie, scaring off Mercer. ]

  4. [ The creature sprints off to the front of D-Block, before being terminated by a roaming SCP-173. ]

    [Log Addendum #001-13 End]

"Tonia escorted me to the front of D-Block where we confirmed the casualty of the SCP-008 instance. It was placed within a biohazard anti-contaminant body-bag before being incinerated. The metals and other cups were placed in R-Wing for more elaborate, future examination."

    Casualties
"The only casualty was Marshal Kaminski, who had succumbed to the effects of radiation and SCP-008. It's corpse has since been incinerated."

    Conclusions
"My only concerns are behind the possible reasoning of his actions. I propose site-wide mental health evaluations to be performed at some time this month (03/XX/86). More regulations and restrictions should be put in place regarding all usage of chemical, medical, and SCP-294-provided materials for those outside of the designated research branch."

Fairly interesting. I would like to know where the location of the deceased creation would be? It is worth pursuing for research matters to study this concoction of mixtures. Can it truly accomplish its purpose whatever that would be?

Re: Smooth

The specimen was incinerated after termination was confirmed.

I was just informed yesterday that the cube I had contained in R-Wing, which contained both a pill and syringe of the transformative substance, had been discarded by Foundation Command. If you show interest in analyzing said substance, I suggest you bring up the whereabouts with them.

I would like to address something that was brought to me in the light of this case. Provost MPs and Marshals are not to be interacting with SCP objects or studying anything without direct supervision from a member of Research or Medical staff. This is to maintain a level of accountability especially when SCP objects are concerned. While security personnel were following the chain of command, anything you find suspicious regardless of rank should be reported to their Commanding officer. In this instance myself or Chief Danger. Remain vigilant comrades. More bad actors will soon follow I am sure.

Re: Incident Report #013

I have just read over the report. It seems to me that something provoked them into this action or they were working against the Foundation, perhaps as a spy. I have no clue what Kaminski could've been doing otherwise. I am going to approve the request for site-wide mental health checkups on all personnel to be lead by you House under the basis of active security measures.

Has anything been done to Mercer? I would like to know what they were doing in the lab as well, if I am not misreading or misunderstanding the report. Engineering should not be dispensing anything anomalous from SCP-294. Chekov, I am placing an AOS order on Mercer for interrogation, please act on it as soon as possible.

If needed, I will raise the containment access for SCP-294, however this incident alone doesn't require such at the moment. Please inform me if a future situation related to this requires attention.

RE: Re: Incident Report #013

Apologies for the misunderstanding, as the action log was recorded by a security officer. Mercer did not dispense anything, and had rather found himself at the wrong place at the wrong time through sheer inconvenience. I had questioned him, and his possible involvement in the sabotage was extremely, extremely unlikely. Cameras proved that he had walked into the main room of R-Wing and nothing more.
